AIDICO, Construction Technology Research Institute, is formally a non-profit-making association with over 100 employees active in many construction related activities, working very close to the industry, providing services to its over 400 associated construction related companies. Among other activities and services, AIDICO carries out research and development projects in a wide range of areas: sustainable building materials and processes, nanotechnologies, information and communication technologies, energy saving, etc. Furthermore, AIDICO works in the field of certification of building products and materials and therefore has a modern and well equipped infrastructure based on specialised accredited laboratories. At European level AIDICO has managed and participated in different FP4 and FP5 and FP6 projects (Growth, Craft, IST, Ten Telecom, etc.). AIDICO is active member of the European and Spanish Construction Technology Platforms in different Focus Areas. At national level, AIDICO is the promoter of the IST Focus Area within the Spanish Platform with more than 40 members and Core member of the IST Focus Area in the ECTP.
The New Methods of Work team belonging to AIDICO´s R&D Department, actively works in national and European IST projects aiming to support construction companies and government in the integration of interoperable solutions and applications, in the scope of the construction sector. Through these projects the team has acquired specific experience in product & process modelling, requirements analysis, interoperability architectures, software developement and technology transfer to industry, through national and European projects. Furthermore, AIDICO has also relevant experience in coordination and dissemination activities.

The research activities of Alcatel Lucent are organised within one single operating organisation: Alcatel Lucent Bell Labs. The objective of Alcatel Lucent Bell Labs is to contribute to the future success of Alcatel Lucent's customers in helping them maintain their competitive advantage addressing the challenging and rapidly evolving markets, by preparing the products and services that they will require in the future. Alcatel Lucent Bell Labs works on technologies that address the short and medium term, as well as long term or broader perspective research. Research work is dedicated to four mail research fields (Optics, Mobile, Networking, Management and Control). This work is predominantly carried out in five locations, including Nozay near Paris in France.
The LIST, the laboratory of systems and Technologies integration, is operated by the Direction of the Technology Research (DRT) at CEA (the French Atomic Energy Commission). Its vocation is to help companies increase their competitiveness through technological innovation and transfer of its technical know-how to the industry. LIST has also an active policy of start-up creation. CEA/DRT is currently employing some 2000 persons. Overall, last year, DRT has been working with more than 200 industrial partners within the framework of about 600 contracts. To-date, its patent portfolio consists in more than 600 French patents, many of which were extended to Europe, the USA or Japan. Its application sectors include Micro-electronics, Defence, Nuclear Power & Energy, Health Care & Biology, Telecommunications, Aerospace, Information Technology (hardware & software), Professional Electronics, Computer Peripherals. The Image and Embedded Computer Laboratory LCEI of the DRT/LIST, composed of 22 members, develops embedded architectures dedicated to data processing and image processing tools.
CEA LIST has a strong expertise in image processing techniques for augmented reality applications. It has developed marker-based solutions for real-time 3D virtual object registration with the real world. CEA researches address now markerless solutions. CEA also has a very good experience in 3D video-systems calibration which is clearly mandatory in this project. The laboratory has already participated in several European projects. Two start-ups were created inside the laboratory, concerning image processing applications (image and video indexing and videogrammetry).
University of Jyvaskyla (Cognitive science unit) is specialized to human machine interaction analysis from user-psychological point of view since 2001. This means basic and applied investigations in interaction processes by means of psychological methods and concepts. The main goals have been in developing procedures in interaction analysis, testing and use scenario design. All questions have specifically been in the area of understanding human dimensions of technology.
This knowledge have been applied in several projects in forest industry, mobile technology, medical tools, service development and e-learning. The group publishes open access scientific journal Human technology (www.humantechnology.jyu.fi).

VECSYS was founded in 1980. With 25 years' experience, VECSYS designs, develops and markets systems and products belonging to two complementary sectors: Automatic Speech Processing and Industrial Teleprocessing. VECSYS also designs speech recognition boards and systems. The competence of the VECSYS Automatic Speech Processing Department covers the full range of speech technologies, with the primary emphasis on speech recognition and speech processing. VECSYS was involved in the ESPRIT POLYGLOT project as sub-contractor to the Bull company and as partner in the ESPRIT SAM and SAM-A projects, concerned with assessment of speech recognizers. VECSYS was also a partner in the TIDE HEPHAISTOS project, the LE-3 ARISE project, TIDE HOME-AOM to provide vocal command of electronics devices for the elderly and disabled and LE4 OLIVE for automatic disclosure of video information.. Current EC projects include IST ALERT, an Alert system for selective dissemination of multimedia information and IST AMITIES Automated Multilingual Interaction with Information and Services. Among the recent projects conducted by VECSYS is the MGPt project designed for the SNCF, where a vocal interface was developed to handle requests to carry out maintenance and repair work on the TGV and Eurostar tracks. VECSYS develops innovative man-machine interfaces. The Automatic Vocal Server proposed by VECSYS integrates natural language processing and understanding, providing clients/callers with easy and immediate access to information.
