This WP monitors and controls the overall project progress and ensures that deliverables and milestones are achieved on time. Risks will be carefully identified at the beginning and midterm milestone of the project while mitigation plans are defined. It is also the responsibility of this WP to organize regular meetings, to report progress and to ensure good communication between the partners. Therefore, a project start up workshop will be organized at the beginning of the project with all participants involved in this project. Project goals, planning, rules and way of working will be explained and set during this meeting. This work package will also manage the communication between the project partners and with the ITEA2 organization.
The work package will identify specific applications where classic user interfaces (mono-modal) clearly show weaknesses and represent a clear bottleneck for the full exploitation of the new, powerful IT solutions. Alternative scenarios will be proposed where new, innovative interaction approaches and procedures could play an essential role in the application by opening - in some cases - new opportunities.
The activity will be devoted to the study and implementation of algorithms and techniques aiming at enhancing new generations of user interfaces such as those based on voice control, gesture, 3D positioning when used separately or in a multi-modal interfacing approach. The activity will use as inputs the application requirements coming out from the activity of the WP2. The respect of industrial constraints in technology development is a key-point of this WP. The objective is to enhance the user Interface with its environment (Context Awareness) and also with the information system (multimodal HSI).
This work package researches and develops key concepts and components to take advantage of context awareness to adapt applications and Human System Interactions to better serve the user needs.
The activity in Work Package 5 will be devoted to enable the realization of multimodal interfaces. It will therefore concentrate on the definition and design of multimodal enablers, e.g. to enable fusion of separate input streams or fission of application output to different devices or renderers. Based on this work and on the interactions with the other WPs
This work-package has the objective of integrating the work done in other work packages and of validating the overall system behaviour
